Happy *Belated* Mother's Day

*21 weeks, 1 day*

I TOTALLY forgot to mention Mother's Day! Duh! On mother's day, we had Julie, Scott, my mom, & Jeff over for dinner. Julie & Ben cooked, and I had spent the day cleaning. We took Ben's mom out to dinner at Claim Jumper the following week. For both the grandma's-to-be, we got a little something from us and baby. I found these adorable onesies at Kohl's and couldn't resist them!

I also found this picture frame at Kohl's for a steal! I had previously bought myself one from Babies R Us for twice what I paid at Kohl's. Gotta love that!

It's a boy!!

*20 weeks, 6 days* ~ Happy Memorial Day!

After getting canceled AGAIN on Friday (the 23rd), we finally had our ultrasound on Saturday morning, and there's no mistaking, IT'S A BOY!!!! I finally cried at the doctor's office. Just seeing that little boy in there, moving around and showing us that all of his parts are developing perfectly, I had to breathe a sigh of relief and shed a tear of joy on the table. It was such an awesome experience. The doctor pointed out everything, and I could see everything he showed us. Four chambers of the heart, two halves of the brain, diaphram, spine, ribcage, eyes, nose, mouth, full tummy, legs, feet, arms, fingers. Well, and of course, the penis. :) He (our son, not the doctor) had his hands up by his face, and the doctor commented that maybe he was trying to suck his thumb. He looks perfect! I think he is going to look like Ben. He's measuring a bit big - the measurements move my due date up to the 4th, but I take that with a grain of salt because I think our kid is just going to be long, like his daddy. What's weird is that I swear I felt his moving like crazy on Saturday night. Did it take the ultrasound to get him moving? I haven't felt anything since, but I was pretty sure I was feeling him! We have SO MANY pictures from the ultrasound that I can't wait to post, but the scanner is currently out of commission because of this weekend's big painting project. I will post them absolutely as soon as possible!

There was no way that this long weekend was not going to be productive. Saturday night we went to Home Depot and bought the paint, and we spent literally *all day* Sunday emptying and prepping the former computer room. If you've been to our house and seen our computer room, you can imagine what an undertaking it was to empty it. It was sort of the "junk" room, for lack of a better term. There was so much crap in there to sort through, throw away, and organize that the majority of Sunday was spent unloading that room. Today, I've been staying out of Ben's way while he paints the trim and will hopefully get to the walls before the end of the night. I spent the day in the yard with my mom weeding. Thanks again mom! My house was looking pretty white-trash-ville with the amount of weeds and overgrowth in the gardens.... it's MUCH better now.

I'm hoping the painting project can be finished in the next few days after work so that we can hopefully load that room in next weekend. Load in means combining two rooms into one, as the computer room will remain an office, but will also be the spare bedroom to make way for the nursery. Slowly but surely, people! We think we've figured out a place for the furniture that we have between those two rooms. We definitely need to invest in a smaller (ie. narrower and shallower) computer desk that will fit better but still accomodate the entire computer.

So if next weekend is load in, I'm hoping the following weekend will mean registering for everything this little man needs. Time is of the essence because I'm pretty sure shower invites will be going out in the next few weeks.

It's never boring around here these days!

Change of plans...

*20 weeks, 1 day*

We're halfway there, people!!! After two long years of infertility, it's hard to believe I'm halfway through this pregnancy! Some days I feel like it flies by, and other days I feel like it's taking an eternity to meet our little one. Every day, I'm eternally greatful for the life that I have. I cannot express in words how much I love Ben and this little one and how greatful I am to have the love and support of so many amazing family and friends.

So, our ultrasound was scheduled for last Friday, May 16th at 3:30pm. I missed a call around 1:00, and called the doctor's office back as soon as I noticed they'd called. The secretary said they needed to reschedule my appointment because Dr. Carroll was at the hospital delivering some babies. I said okay and rescheduled. I texted Ben, asking him to call me right away, and when he called back, I prompted burst into tears.

For me, it wasn't so much about finding out the baby's gender (though that was part of it). I really just wanted to see the little one again. It's been ages since our last ultrasound at 10 weeks (back in mid-March), and I just want to know that everything looks good. I want the doctor to check the brain, the heart, the arms & legs, and all the other organs, and tell me everything looks perfect. And if we see some boy or girl parts ~ that will just be the icing on the cake.

Thursday night, Ben & I had laid in bed talking about the ultrasound and getting ourselves all hyped up about it, so I think it was just so crushing to have our hopes up, and then get canceled. We're rescheduled for THIS Friday, May 23rd at 3:30. I have a hard time thinking there's any chance we'll get canceled again. I've never been canceled on by my OBGYN until now, and I can't see it happening two weeks in a row. I am very optimistic that this Friday will be the big day!!

The goal for this weekend, being Memorial Day weekend, is to get some big projects done. We need to empty our current office (soon-to-be guest bedroom/office), clean, prep the walls, and paint. Once the paint's dry, and the room's done, we have to somehow cram two rooms worth of furniture into the one, only slightly larger room. I'm working out scenarios in my head.... Wish us luck!!

I'm also treating myself on Saturday to a pregnancy massage and pedicure!! I totally deserve it, and I can't wait to be pampered!

guess who we get to see on friday??

*18 weeks, 6 days*

Today was my monthly OB appt, and everything looks good! My blood pressure is right on (and has been consistently thankfully), I gained 2 lbs since last months visit (not bad), and baby's heartbeat was in the 140s. I asked the doctor if it was normal for the HB to go down (it was 160 last month), and he said at this point, it's normally between 120 and 150.

The big news is that we FINALLY got to schedule our ultrasound for THIS FRIDAY! WOOHOO!! After going back and forth about finding out the sex, I'm totally on board now, and I really just can't wait to see little Baby K for the first time in what feels like a freaking eternity!! It's been about 9 weeks since my last ultrasound at the REs office, and i'm dying to see what baby looks like!

I did a ton of shopping over the week. Bought myself a bunch of new clothes and a few things for baby, as well. Once we find out the gender, I sure the shopping will get a little out of control... I can't wait!!
